Bonjour Melbourne - French Immersion 2020
That's a wrap!
We are just back from our first Immersion trip to Melbourne with Bonjour Toowoomba - Language Centre and we all had a blast!
Thanks to all who came and all who welcomed us (find a list and pictures below).
Our next immersion tours for French will be held at the following dates:
-29/03/2021 to 03/04/2021 - Lyon and Beaujolais - France
-30/04/2021 to 03/05/2021 - Noumea - New-Caledonia
During our great immersion weekend in Melbourne (which turned a bit into a wine and food tour ;)), I was very impressed by our travellers' determination to mostly speak French and participate into all conversations and exercises.
Flying out of Wellcamp airport made this trip possible altogether. Our travellers had a choice of taking an Airnorth Flight in the morning or in the afternoon to reach Melbourne directly. For those who finish work later on Friday, they arrived on a connecting flight through Sydney later that night.
We stayed in a location that is usually chosen by French people because of it's proximity both to the city centre and to Queen Victoria Market allowing us to buy fresh produce - Mercure on Therry.
We kicked off with a coffee conversation at Brioche by Philip, after a walk in the city centre. We stayed until the café closed, but our conversation was not over, so we moved to Ca De Vin for a glass of wine and to finish our lesson.
We finished our day with beautiful crêpes at Roule Galette - we had flambées, cheese, ham off the bone, calvados, Grand Marnier and a lot more...
On Saturday, we started by a breakfast at the all French, Chez Mademoiselle. Oeufs à la coque, omelette, and great coffee with a conversation class, before heading to Prahran Market.
To discuss all the vocabulary and produce we had seen, tasted (and bought), we had morning tea at Rêverie with a naughty croissant (or 2).
We continued the afternoon with a walk through Prahran and Chapel Street, before heading back to the city for some free-time.
Our following lesson was taken in the underground Bar Margaux for apéritif - wines, beers, etc.
Finally we headed to the Hell of the North for a French inspired tasting menu and our last conversation of the day.
After that, our travellers' brains were starting to hurt a bit, so we walked to Bistro Guillaume to refuel around a French lunch before a free afternoon.
It was finally time to head back to the airport to relax in the Qantas Club before our direct flight back on AirNorth!
Looking forward to our next French Immersion Adventures.
